AI is Getting Hotter. Lets Raise the Bar for Data Centre Cooling.

AI is Getting Hotter. Singapore Is Raising the Bar for Data Centre Cooling.

GLYSANTIN® brings advanced liquid-cooling technology to the next generation of high-density data centres across Singapore and Asia-Pacific SINGAPORE — The race to build AI-ready data centres is accelerating across Asia-Pacific. But as computing power and rack densities climb, one challenge is becoming impossible to ignore: heat.

Now, GLYSANTIN®, the established cooling technology brand from BASF, is bringing its advanced GLYTHERMIN® thermal management fluids to the data centre market, providing purposedesigned cooling solutions for the increasingly demanding requirements of liquid-cooled infrastructure.

The move comes at a pivotal moment for Singapore. The country has just launched SS 726:2026 – Liquid Cooling in Tropical Data Centres, the world's first standard specifically addressing the deployment and management of liquid-cooled systems in tropical data centres. The standard covers planning, design, maintenance, sustainability performance and risk management for liquid cooling in tropical environments. For an industry increasingly powered by AI, the message is clear: cooling is no longer a supporting function. It is core infrastructure.

“The future of AI depends on how effectively we manage heat.”

“Asia-Pacific is entering a new era of high-density computing, and Singapore is at the forefront of that transformation. As AI workloads continue to push power densities higher, thermal management will become one of the defining factors in data centre performance, reliability and scalability. Our objective with GLYTHERMIN® is straightforward: provide cooling fluids engineered to help data centre operators manage heat effectively while protecting critical cooling infrastructure over the long term. Singapore is an ideal environment to demonstrate this technology because the region's tropical climate makes thermal management an even greater challenge.”

From Air Cooling to Liquid Cooling: The Infrastructure Is Changing

Traditional air cooling is increasingly being challenged by the thermal demands of high-performance computing and AI. Singapore's tropical climate adds another layer of complexity, with cooling systems accounting for a significant share of data centre energy consumption. Singapore's Tropical Data Centre Standard notes that cooling can account for up to 40% of a data centre's total energy use and provides a framework for safely operating facilities at higher temperatures. At the same time, Singapore is seeing rapid deployment of highdensity, AI-ready facilities. Nxera's DC Tuas, for example, opened in 2026 with 58 MW of AI-ready capacity and Singapore's largest direct-to-chip liquid-cooling deployment at the time of launch. This shift is creating a new requirement: coolants must do more than transfer heat. They must also protect the cooling system itself.

GLYTHERMIN®: Cooling Designed Around the Data Centre

GLYSANTIN®'s GLYTHERMIN® portfolio includes purposedesigned propylene-glycol-based heat-transfer fluids for liquidcooled data centre systems. GLYTHERMIN® DC combines greater than 99.5% propylene glycol purity with BASF-formulated hybrid corrosion inhibitor technology designed to protect copper, brass and stainless-steel components. The formulation is designed for compatibility with wetted materials commonly used in data centre liquid-cooling systems and has demonstrated performance exceeding ASTM D8039 heat-transfer-fluid requirements. For operators seeking long-term protection, GLYTHERMIN® DC OAT uses Organic Acid Technology (OAT), with ultra-low inhibitor depletion rates and protection against corrosion, scaling and aging. It is formulated for direct-to-chip liquid-cooling applications, increasingly relevant as AI servers move toward higher power densities. Both DC formulations are available as concentrates or prediluted PG25 and PG55 solutions and incorporate fluorescent dye to support leak detection in liquid-cooled systems. For data centre HVAC applications, GLYTHERMIN® PG OAT provides a propylene-glycol-based solution with OAT corrosion protection, low odour and full miscibility with water.

Singapore: Where Tropical Cooling Meets AI Infrastructure

Singapore's importance extends beyond its domestic data centre market. Its combination of tropical operating conditions, advanced digital infrastructure and strong regulatory focus makes it a natural proving ground for next-generation cooling technologies. The country's latest liquid-cooling standard specifically recognises the challenges of deploying liquid cooling in tropical climates and establishes requirements and recommendations covering facilityplanning, deployment, maintenance, sustainable performance and risk management. For GLYSANTIN®, this creates an opportunity to support data centre developers, operators, cooling-system designers and technology providers throughout Singapore and the wider AsiaPacific region as they transition toward higher-density computing.

The Next Data Centre Advantage Will Be Thermal

AI is changing the economics and engineering of data centres. More computing power means more heat. More heat means greater demands on cooling infrastructure. And in tropical markets, the margin for error becomes even smaller. GLYSANTIN® is positioning GLYTHERMIN® as part of the answer: purpose-built thermal management fluids designed to help keep liquid-cooled data centre systems operating reliably as computing density continues to rise. As Asia-Pacific accelerates its AI infrastructure build-out, the next competitive advantage may not simply be who can deploy the most GPUs. It may be who can keep them cool.

About GLYSANTIN®

GLYSANTIN® is a BASF brand with decades of expertise in cooling technology. Its GLYTHERMIN® portfolio extends this expertise into advanced thermal management applications, including liquid-cooled data centre systems.

GLYTHERMIN® DC and DC OAT are designed for liquid cooling applications, while GLYTHERMIN® PG OAT is designed for data centre HVAC cooling systems.
