Avnet and Weston Robot Bring Physical AI to Industrial Operations with an Autonomous Inspection Robot
Weston Robot and Avnet have announced a collaboration to accelerate the adoption of Physical AI in industrial environments, through an AI-powered inspection platform that lets intelligent machines perceive, analyse, and respond autonomously to real-world operating conditions.
As industrial facilities grow larger, more complex, and more data-driven, operators are looking beyond traditional automation toward intelligent systems that can continuously monitor operations, identify potential risks, and respond in real time. The collaboration pairs Avnet’s expertise in advanced computing, ecosystem enablement, and embedded AI with Weston Robot’s leadership in intelligent robotics and autonomous systems — demonstrating how AI can move beyond software into autonomous action in the physical world.
The platform brings AI perception, real-time anomaly detection, intelligent path planning, and autonomous navigation together on a single system. Powered by AMD embedded AI processing, it delivers up to 50 TOPS of AI performance while supporting AI-driven inspection, thermal and visual analytics, 3D LiDAR mapping, and dependable operation in GPS-denied environments. These capabilities enable deployment across factories, warehouses, ports, utilities, tunnels, and other mission-critical settings.
“Physical AI represents the next evolution of artificial intelligence — one where intelligent systems can perceive, reason, and act autonomously in the real world,” said Arthur Chung, Vice President, Sales & Supplier Management, Avnet Asia. Bringing together advanced computing, edge AI, and robotics, the collaboration aims to help organisations scale industrial intelligence, strengthen safety, and improve operational resilience as they move beyond AI experimentation toward intelligent autonomous systems.
Designed to continuously monitor operations, identify risks, and act on them in real time, the autonomous inspection platform supports safer, more efficient, and more resilient industrial operations.
