Hanley Energy Announces up to $700m Equinix Investment in New Manufacturing Facility
New advanced manufacturing hub in Dundalk, Ireland to create hundreds of high‑skilled jobs, accelerate global data center delivery, and strengthen Ireland’s engineering ecosystem.
Hanley Energy announced a landmark investment of up to $700 million by Equinix to develop a new 150,000 sq. ft. advanced manufacturing facility in Dundalk, Co. Louth. The project unveiled in the presence of Taoiseach Michéal Martin – will create hundreds of skilled jobs, accelerate delivery of next‑generation data center power systems and secure critical global supply chains.
The facility will become a global manufacturing hub for critical power equipment used in Equinix’s high‑performance data centers and AI‑workload environments. The deal covers an initial 5-year period, extendable to 10 years, with a minimum of $70 million from Equinix annually, reinforcing its long-term partnership with Hanley Energy and confidence in Ireland’s engineering capability.
The investment will create hundreds of new roles. This will initially include 200 engineers and technicians focused on precision engineering, quality assurance, and lean manufacturing. Apprenticeship and training programs will also be introduced to build future-ready talent in the Louth region.
Co-locating production under one roof is expected to achieve 10-15% faster lead times compared to traditional procurement methods. The facility will manufacture Low-voltage Switchgear, Power Distribution Units (PDUs), and Remote Power Panels (RPPs), all critical components for reliable and efficient power distribution in data centers worldwide.
The facility will feature an Intertek SATELLITE Level 3 temperature rise testing laboratory which will enable mission critical equipment to be subjected to full load current testing.
Designed around nZEB (near-zero energy building) principles and LEED-aligned standards, the project prioritises low carbon construction, efficient building systems, and long-term environmental performance. This approach strengthens the overall sustainability profile and clearly demonstrates our Responsible Business strategy in the context of large-scale infrastructure development.
