PFCT Patents AI Technology for Predicting Delinquency Risk in Mid-Rate Loans
PFCT (PFC Technologies) announced that its AI technology for predicting delinquency risk in mid-rate loans — applied within its financial vertical AI infrastructure, AIRPACK — has been officially registered as a patent by the Korean Intellectual Property Office.

This article covers PFCT's newly registered patent for AI-driven delinquency risk prediction in the mid-rate loan segment, how the technology works within its AIRPACK-Lab and AIRPACK-Studio platforms, and comments from CEO Soohwan Lee on what the patent means for the company's domestic and international expansion.

PFC Technologies (PFCT) announced that its AI technology for predicting delinquency risk in mid-rate loans — a core component of AIRPACK, its financial vertical AI infrastructure — has been officially registered as a patent by the Korean Intellectual Property Office.

According to PFCT, the patent covers a "method and device for predicting the likelihood of delinquency risk in mid-rate loans." Its core innovation lies in segmenting mid-rate loan borrowers by a range of characteristics and automatically generating, validating, and operating AI credit scoring models optimized for each customer segment, enabling more precise risk prediction.

The technology is also designed to maintain predictive performance amid changing market conditions by continuously comparing and validating the performance of models currently in operation against new AI models, and deploying the best-performing model into production.

PFCT explained that the patented technology moves beyond the conventional approach of applying a single credit scoring model to all customers, instead adopting a structure that generates, validates, and operates optimized AI models for segmented customer groups based on individual characteristics.

The company added that the technology is designed so AI can comprehensively analyze a wide range of financial data — including not only credit scores but also repayment history, asset size, debt characteristics, and financial transaction patterns — to more precisely predict risk on a per-customer basis.

This allows financial institutions to manage delinquency risk more accurately while extending reasonable financial access to a broader pool of low- and mid-credit borrowers who have historically been underserved by conventional evaluation systems, the company said.

The patented technology is currently applied within AIRPACK's core products, AIRPACK-Lab and AIRPACK-Studio, and is in active use in real-world operating environments at financial institutions both in Korea and abroad.

AIRPACK is an infrastructure designed to transform the entire risk management and lending decision-making process — the core of the credit industry — into an AI-driven system, providing integrated support across the full lending workflow from data preprocessing to model development, strategy design, execution, and operational monitoring. AIRPACK-Lab handles AI model development, validation, and risk strategy formulation, while AIRPACK-Studio is responsible for rapidly deploying AI models and lending strategies into production and managing data quality and strategy performance in real time.

According to PFCT, financial institutions that adopt AIRPACK can carry out the entire credit risk management process through AI — from model development to delinquency monitoring, analysis of delinquent customer characteristics, impact analysis of strategy changes, adjustment of loan approval strategies, and operational performance monitoring.

PFCT stated that through this technology, it is advancing risk management systems in the mid-rate loan market while also expanding its footprint in the financial vertical AI market by supplying its technology to financial institutions overseas as well as domestically.

Soohwan Lee, CEO of PFCT, said, "This patent registration is not simply a credit scoring model — it is recognition of the originality of an AI risk management system tailored specifically to the mid-rate loan market. It will serve as a technical foundation that helps financial institutions manage risk more precisely while extending financial opportunities to a greater number of low- and mid-credit customers." He added, "Building on our previously patented strategy optimization technology alongside this new risk prediction technology, PFCT will continue to support AI-driven decision-making innovation at financial institutions at home and abroad, and contribute to the healthy growth of the mid-rate lending market."
