Buffer Tank
Liquid Cooling Buffer Tanks: Temperature Stabilization & CDU Protection
1. Core Definition
A temperature-stabilizing and buffering device for liquid-cooled data centers. Its internal helical or baffle-plate structure thoroughly mixes coolant before it enters critical equipment (CDUs or servers), eliminating temperature fluctuations. It is the "ballast" that ensures stable liquid cooling system operation.
2. Why It Matters
· CDU Protection & Lifespan Extension (Return-Side Installation)
Prevents return coolant temperature swings caused by sudden server load changes. Turbulent mixing inside the tank stabilizes CDU inlet temperature, avoiding damage from frequent loading/unloading cycles and extending service life.
· Server Protection & Overheating Prevention (Supply-Side Installation)
Prevents hot coolant from directly abrupting servers in the event of a CDU performance failure. When a CDU fault occurs, the buffer tank rapidly mixes and lowers the outlet coolant temperature, buying response time. It is the last physical defense for server safety.
· Customized Mixing Configurations for Precision Control
Available in single-inlet/single-outlet and single-inlet/triple-outlet designs, customizable to CDU performance curves for optimal temperature buffering across all operating conditions.
