CDU (Coolant Distribution Unit) is a thermal management device based on liquid‑cooling technology. The rack-mounted liquid-cooling CDU is mainly composed of cabinet, water pump, plate heat exchanger, valves, expansion tank and pipelines. Via the plate heat exchanger, the CDU transfers heat generated by high-power heat-dissipating components such as CPUs, VRDs and GPUs from the secondary loop to the primary loop. Heat is then circulated through the primary loop to the cooling tower and exhausted out of the data center.
The CDU also provides flow distribution and pressure control for the secondary loop, and prevents condensation within the secondary loop.
