Dr Jama Borzouie

With over 17 years of experience, Jama is a highly accomplished structural engineer with extensive expertise in leading and delivering complex projects from concept design through to construction completion. He holds a PhD in Steel Structures from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, and has contributed as a structural designer, technical lead, or peer reviewer on several of New Zealand’s flagship projects.
Jama leads WSP’s structural delivery for data centre projects across New Zealand and serves as the APAC Data Centre Structural Lead, providing leadership and oversight for mission-critical projects throughout the APAC region. He has delivered complex projects across New Zealand, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Indonesia, and the Middle East, spanning mission-critical facilities, major infrastructure, commercial developments, and other technically demanding structures. This broad international experience, combined with his leadership in the data centre sector, enables him to deliver pragmatic and innovative solutions for the world’s leading technology clients.
His experience covers all stages of project delivery, from strategic planning and concept design through detailed design, construction support, and stakeholder engagement, and he has built a reputation as a trusted advisor and recognised authority in the design and delivery of complex structures and next-generation data centre facilities across the APAC region.
He has been appointed by Standards New Zealand and Standards Australia to contribute to the revision of the New Zealand Steel Structures Standard (NZS 3404) and the Australia/New Zealand Composite Structures Standard (AS/NZS 2327).
