Jason Sandery is the General Manager and Domain Lead for Cloud Enablement at Commonwealth Bank of Australia, where he leads the bank’s AWS, Azure and GCP platforms at enterprise scale, overseeing a team of more than 230 engineers. His remit includes cloud controls and compliance, secrets management (HashiCorp Vault), certificate lifecycle management (Venafi), event streaming (Kafka), and container platforms (Kubernetes/EKS), as well as driving AI adoption across the organisation. Since establishing and scaling CBA’s multi-cloud environment, Jason has been instrumental in modernising the bank’s technology foundations - enabling the safe operation of core banking workloads in the cloud while significantly uplifting controls, governance and automation. His team has accelerated platform delivery and developer productivity, reducing provisioning timelines from months to hours through reusable, secure-by-design patterns. More recently, he has led the introduction of AI-driven capabilities, including internal AI agents, to enhance engineering efficiency and unlock new innovation opportunities across the enterprise. Previously, Jason led mainframe, private cloud, storage and midrange services at CBA, and spent over a decade at Macquarie Group in global technology leadership roles.
