KK Yong is the Principal Researcher (Penyelidik Utama) at MIMOS Berhad, leading highperformance computing (HPC) and GPU-accelerated computing research, with a growing interest in quantum computing. With over 25 years of experience in software development and 50 publications across conferences, journals, and patents, he plays a key role in advancing computing technologies. He represents Malaysia in the ASEAN HPC Taskforce and Innovation under ASEAN COSTI (Committee on Science, Technology, and Innovation), chairs the FASA-2 HPC Kumpulan Kerjian Teknikal (KKT) with MOSTI (Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation - Malaysia), and served on the NSC (National Standards Committee - Malaysia) 07 Technical Committee for ICT standards. Since 2024, he has been an industry advisor for the BSc. (Hons) in AI at Multimedia University. An expert in CUDA programming since 2012, NVIDIA recognized him as a Principal Investigator for the GPU Research Centre in 2016. He oversees a data science research team, executing grant projects and deploying AI, Big Data Analytics, and IoT solutions for Industry 4.0. He recently passed his Ph.D. viva at UTAR, focusing on heterogeneous computing for query processing.
