From Liquid Cooling to Li-ion Batteries: How water mist is enhancing the safety in Data centres

Critical Infrastructure Theatre

The data centre market is evolving at an accelerated pace, but the standardization process is struggling to keep up with the rapid technological advancements. The challenges we faced yesterday are no longer the same as those we face today, and we can already anticipate new ones in the near future. Data centres are continually adopting new layouts within the same basic infrastructure. Li-ion batteries are now installed centralized and decentralized within server racks. Liquid cooling is altering room temperatures, air flow, and cable configurations, all while creating new system obstructions. Power requirements are growing, with sites expanding beyond any expectation with AI, and the equipment inside is following suit, putting a significant strain on facilities. Meanwhile, sprinkler systems are not evolving at the same rate — this is the era of water mist technology.
