800VDC to the Rack: Does Cooling Need to Change?

30 Sept 2026
Energy Security & Efficiency Theatre

As rack densities move towards the 1 MW range, the combination of 800VDC power distribution and liquid cooling raises new questions for data center design, safety and operation. This session will discuss the pros and cons of bringing high-voltage DC power closer to the rack, and whether new safety standards will be required as these architectures become more relevant for high-density AI infrastructure. It will also explore how non-conductive coolants may help mitigate risks associated with high-voltage DC environments, and whether rising rack densities could push single-phase liquid cooling to its physical and performance limits - making two-phase liquid cooling an increasingly relevant option for the next generation of data centers.
